Supporting The Friendship Cafe Walsall CIC
The Friendship Cafe is a not-for-profit organisation committed to tackling social isolation in the Walsall Community. Adults of all ages can feel lonely and isolated from others in their local area, and The Friendship Cafe strives to help connect people with others who may be experiencing the same problems.
First launched in October 2018, the Friendship Cafe is a mobile and adaptable service, holding sessions in several different Walsall venues. As an organisation centred around inclusivity, sessions are open to all adults, with each person valued for who they are. The Friendship Cafe provides a wide range of services and activities, including regular social meets, trips and events, book clubs, arts and crafts, yoga for relaxation, and even a Friendship Cafe Choir!
Through providing regular opportunities for social interaction and friendship, the Friendship Cafe has had a huge impact on people in Walsall, helping them to fight loneliness and improve their self-confidence.
As a Community Interest Company, the Friendship Cafe is not-for-profit and keeps prices for all sessions as low as possible to ensure that they are accessible for everyone. As a result, the organisation fundraises constantly in order to be able to provide extra support and activities for service users. Recognising the wonderful work that the Friendship Cafe does in Walsall, we are delighted to be a permanent supporter of their work, having pledged to provide a monthly donation of £250.
When we approached them in April, the Friendship Cafe team posted on their Facebook page:
“We cannot express how much this means to us and our service users. Hayward’s do so much for our community, they really deserve recognition for everything they do to help others.”
In May, we were delighted to see our donation contributing to an afternoon out at Aldridge Cinema, where forty friends were able to enjoy a showing of “The Last Bus”, starring Timothy Spall. Needless to say, a bostin cuppa was enjoyed alongside the film.
